21st Century Community Learning Center

Alpha Academy Charter School, located in Cumberland County, is proud to announce the addition of our 21st Century Community Learning Center Program (21st CCLC)!  This program is a part of the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction and provides federal funding for organizations to better serve the children, families and schools in our community.

21st CCLC provides expanded learning opportunities for eligible students in 

Title I schools beyond regular school hours.  In addition to intensive academic learning, the program also offers students a broad array of enrichment activities focused on healthy lifestyles and character development.

 

21st CCLC Program Components

  • A snack is provided every day upon arrival
  • WE EXCEL: includes homework assistance, tutoring, and reading 
  • STEM activities are regularly incorporated to improve science, technology, engineering and math skills
  • Social and Emotional Learning instruction is provided daily through an evidence-based curriculum
  • Character and leadership are promoted through a variety of weekly activities including Positive Action
  • Academic enrichment is emphasized daily through Alpha Academy’s online programs such as I-ready, Study Island, and Math Reflex
  • Field trips vary between educational and cultural aspects
